Sing Memorial Ground this November and commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
2nd July 2016 - 30th November 2016
Memorial Ground is a new piece of music by Pulitzer-Prize winning composer David Lang, composed to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. It is written in such a way that choirs can customise it to suit their size, abilities, location and community. Every choir that sings Memorial Ground can add their own texts to the core piece, making each performance a unique act of remembrance.
Choirs across the UK are invited to sing the piece this November at concerts, services and school assemblies on and around Remembrance Sunday. Full information about Memorial Ground including the score, lyrics and learning materials are free to download from www.memorialground2016.com. There are also lots of videos offering advice and guidance to help you prepare your performance.
Memorial Ground is co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW and East Neuk Festival with the support of Creative Scotland.
Choirs of all sizes, shapes and abilities can sing Memorial Ground!
