Meet the Choir Doctors

Michael Henry is a London-born vocalist-composer and musical director. He is a member of a capella groups The Shout and Flying Pickets and has provided backing vocals for Chaka Khan, George Michael, Chrissy Hynde and The Pet Shop Boys. He has worked as Vocal and Musical Director for the National Theatre, The Young Vic, Almeida Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Suzi Zumpe enjoys working alongside composers and directors to devise new work and has collaborated on an array of weird and wonderful projects. She specialises in teaching complicated material to a broad range of people, regardless of their previous experience, and devises and runs workshops with professional and non-professional groups alike. Companies she has recently worked with include the Royal Opera House, the Royal Academy of Music, Southbank Centre and Aurora Orchestra.

Lea Cornthwaite is a singer, choir director and animateur who works with children as young as 5 to adults of 95. He has worked as chorus master for Glyndebourne Youth Opera and Opera North, for Southbank’s Voicelab, National Youth Theatre and at the Barbican. Lea has a particular interest in singing for health and wellbeing.

Adey Grummet is a professional soprano and much sought after workshop leader. As a vocal leader she has worked for all of the major opera companies in the UK as well as for BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Brodsky String Quartet, The Shout, Artangel and Aldeburgh Music.

Lucy Griffiths is Assistant Director of Music at the University of Warwick. She is also Musical Director of Severn Trent Water – a post created for her after she led their choir to victory in the first series of the BBC’s Sing While You Work. She is Principal Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestras Junior Choir and has lectured in choral conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
